JAY-Z closed the London leg of his JAY-Z30 run with a second night that looked different from the first.
Saturday's September 5 show at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium featured Sampha and Dave as guests, while one of the night's most revealing moments came when JAY-Z stopped to recognize Jaz-O.
Complex reported that Sampha joined JAY-Z for "No Church in the Wild," singing the hook originally recorded by Frank Ocean.
Dave then appeared to perform "Raindance," his collaboration with Tems, drawing one of the night's biggest crowd reactions.
But the Jaz-O moment connected the stadium show to a much earlier chapter of JAY-Z's career.
JAY-Z credited his early mentor and collaborator with bringing him to the UK during his younger years. He recalled staying for two months in Nottingham and described the experience as expanding his sense of the world available to him.
That acknowledgment gives the closing London show a different historical role than Night 1.
The first Tottenham date featured Lauryn Hill and Wyclef Jean reuniting for a Fugees segment, Giggs, Idris Elba and DJ Khaled. Night 2 leaned into JAY-Z's UK connection through Dave and Sampha and then reached back to Jaz-O, one of the people tied to his earliest rap development.
The 34-song set closed with "Numb/Encore," according to Complex, marking JAY-Z's first performance of the Linkin Park collaboration since 2017.
The JAY-Z30 run now moves to Paris, with Stade de France scheduled for September 10, followed by two Los Angeles dates at SoFi Stadium in October.
