OG 3Three’s federal bond fight is not over.
A magistrate judge granted the Houston rapper a $200,000 bond on Sept. 18, but prosecutors immediately asked to pause his release while a different judge reviewed the decision, according to Complex.
U.S. District Judge Drew B. Tipton agreed to stay the release and set another hearing for Sept. 23.
OG 3Three, whose legal name is Roderick Jean-Pierre Jr., faces federal charges of aiding and abetting interference with commerce by robbery and aiding and abetting the brandishing of a firearm during a crime of violence.
The charges stem from an April incident at Confessions restaurant in Houston involving AllStar JR and NBA Ben10.
Prosecutors argue Jean-Pierre is a danger to the community and a flight risk. His defense has disputed the government’s account of his role, arguing that he did not participate in the robbery and left before the later shooting.
Those are competing arguments in a pending federal case. The charges have not been proven at trial.
The important procedural point is simple: the first judge approved bond, but that decision is now under review and OG 3Three’s release was stayed.
The Sept. 23 hearing is the next checkpoint.
